Chemical and mineral inspection refers to the inspection and testing of chemical products and mineral products involved in ocean shipping. Chemical products include plastic raw materials, chemical reagents, coatings, etc.; mineral products cover iron ore, coal, copper concentrate, etc. These products often have characteristics such as flammability, explosiveness, toxicity, and corrosiveness, or their quality and weight have a significant impact on trade settlement. Through chemical and mineral inspection, transportation safety can be ensured, and accidents caused by unstable properties of goods can be avoided. At the same time, it ensures that the quality and weight of goods meet the requirements of contracts, safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of both trading parties, and reduces trade disputes.
Detect the chemical composition, physical properties, specification indicators, etc. of chemical and mineral products. For example, inspect the iron content, silica content, and particle size distribution of iron ore; test the purity, pH value, melting point, etc. of chemical raw materials to determine whether they meet the requirements of contracts or industry standards.
Evaluate the hazardous characteristics of chemical products, such as measuring the flash point of flammable liquids, the ignition point of flammable solids, and the corrosion rate of corrosive substances, to ensure that the goods will not cause safety accidents due to their own properties during transportation.
Use methods such as weighing by weighing instruments, draft survey, and volumetric weighing to accurately measure the weight of the goods; count the quantity of packaged goods to ensure fair trade between the two trading parties in terms of weight and quantity of the goods.
Check whether the packaging of chemical and mineral products meets the requirements of ocean shipping, and whether it has good sealing, compression resistance, leak prevention, etc.; at the same time, confirm whether the hazardous labels, goods names, weights, origins and other information on the packaging are clear and accurate for easy transportation and identification.
Inspection Declaration: The consignor or agent submits an inspection application to the inspection agency within the specified time, and provides relevant materials such as contracts, invoices, packing lists, and product instructions.
Sampling: Inspection personnel draw representative samples from the entire batch of goods according to sampling standards. The sampling methods and quantities must strictly follow relevant specifications to ensure the accuracy of inspection results.
Laboratory Testing: Send the drawn samples to a professional laboratory, and use various instruments, equipment and testing methods to analyze and test various indicators of the goods.
On-site Inspection: Inspection personnel go to the goods storage site to check the packaging, labeling, and storage conditions of the goods; inspect the weight and quantity, such as using draft survey to measure the weight of mineral products carried by ships.
Result Evaluation and Certificate Issuance: Evaluate according to the test and inspection results against the requirements of contracts and standards. If the goods meet the requirements, the inspection agency will issue a qualified inspection certificate; if not, it will issue an unqualified report and explain the reasons.
| Product Category | Quality Inspection Key Points | Safety Performance Inspection Key Points | Weight and Quantity Inspection Methods | Packaging and Labeling Requirements |
|---|
| Chemical Raw Materials | Purity, impurity content, chemical stability | Flash point, toxicity, corrosiveness | Volumetric weighing, weighing by weighing instruments | Sealed packaging, affix hazardous chemical labels, indicate ingredients and emergency handling methods |
| Mineral Products | Metal content, harmful element content, particle size | Radioactivity (for some mineral products) | Draft survey, belt scale weighing | Firm packaging, label the goods name, origin, weight and other information |
| Hazardous Chemicals | Component ratio, reactivity | Explosion limit, auto-ignition point, toxicity | Weighing by weighing instruments | Packaging meeting UN standards, clearly mark the hazard class, UN number of dangerous goods |
